HPW Accountants Cairns Classic 2009

16 teams entered this event to compete for prize money of $6,000.00

The event commenced at 9am on Saturday 19th September with teams smartly out of the blocks because the event was conducted under a time limit of 2 ½ hours for each game and the first Saturday the teams were to play 3 games.

Each of these teams had to hold up for 7 hours on Saturday and at least 5 hours on the Sunday to try and snatch a win for the big money. Although teams were paid for rink wins it was necessary for each of them to win as many games as possible.

At the end of the tournament there was only 1 team with 5 rink wins which made the organisers’ job a little easier to work out who was the overall winner. We must congratulate all who contested this event but special congratulations to the underdogs who turned it all around to defeat some of the biggest names in our area.

We must also thank Harry Wszola who was the major sponsor with his company HPW Accountants. Harry was also kind enough to join us for the presentation on Sunday afternoon (see winners photos) and has promised renewed sponsorship for next year, which is our centenary year.

2nd & 3rd of May 2009 | 49th Annual Kennedy's Mixed Fours

Proudly sponsored by Kennedy's Retravision for the 49th year the Kennedy's mixed Fours was a tremendous event held over 2 days on the 2nd and 3rd of May.

The event was extremely well attended with 28 teams participating and all enjoying the 2 days of bowls with a lot of fun included as well as the serious side of bowls. The $5,000 prize money was shared between the first 6 placegetters and the four round winners so 10 of the 28 teams took home prizes, a fair share all around.

Bowls President, Tony McAlary, presided over the event and stated that this year's event was the most enjoyable to date and indicated that the next event to be held in 2010 would be bigger end better.

Thanking all bowlers and spectators Tony ensured that Kennedy's Retravision would be on board for next year's event in what will be the Cairns Bowls Club's centenary year

Enduro Bowls 2005

Annual Bowls Event Hosted by Cairns Bowls Club
A brand new concept in bowls in the Far North.
This event entails 14 teams playing a 'round-robin' over 6 games, the duration of 12 hours. A test of both resolve and stamina.

Play commences at 8am in the morning and finishes at 8pm.

Teams are made up of 6 players, and each player must play in each position at least once, during the course of the day. It is therefore necessary to have a well rounded team.

Cost is only $50 per player for the day which includes green fees and meals.
